It was in the heart of the Reims mountains, in Bouzy, that our family business began in 1923 with Fernand DAUVERGNE and Hubert BARON.
In 1927, they joined forces with other Bouzy winegrowers to create the Coopérative Viticole Defynlieu, the first winegrowing cooperative in Champagne.
A few years later, my grandparents Madeleine BARON and Michel DAUVERGNE joined forces to create their own Champagne brand. It was from this point on that Michel, his son Hubert and his grandson Vincent took over.
In 1945, Michel bought new land and diversified the business into cereal farming.
30 years later, Hubert took over the business, but only looked after the winegrowing side, leaving his brother to look after the farming. Hubert concentrated on developing production and marketing.
In the 1980s, my mother, Eliane, wanted to make a special bottle to pay tribute to the Champagne flower: the daisy, which is now our emblem. And so, in 1983, the Cuvée Fine Fleur was born, the signature of Champagne Baron Dauvergne.
In 2005, after obtaining my BTS in Viticulture and Oenology in Bordeaux, I took over the business.
In 2011, the ‘Baron Dauvergne’ brand was created as a tribute to my great-grandparents.
